1. Who comes to BCHSJS?
BCHSJS is a program for Jewish students in 8th through 12th grade. We pull from all over Northern New Jersey. Our students come from a variety of religious affiliations from Orthodox to un-affiliated. Our warm, welcoming, and inclusive community is open to all!
2. When and where do you meet?
BCHSJS has more than one program site.
We meet on Sunday mornings at Temple Israel in Ridgewood from 10:30am to 1pm from September through May. Students take two classes, have a bagel break, and then participate in a community activity.
We also meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 at Temple Emanuel of the Pascack Valley. Students do a short activity together, share a meal, and then take on course (either leadership training for grades 8 an 9, or Better to Serve for grades 10-12)
3. Do I have to pay the full tuition up front?
No! We can help your family figure out a payment plan that’s right for you. Yes, we accept credit cards and we do have some financial aid available.
4. I am not sure this is right for my teen. Can we try it out?
Sure! We would be happy to welcome you for a visit one Sunday morning. Or, you could come to our open houses in April.
5. Will this help me get into college?
BCHSJS is an amazing extra-curricular to put on your college application. You will gain leadership skills, have opportunities for volunteer experience, have a list of courses that you have completed to submit to your colleges of choice, and a letter of recommendation should you request it. Some of our students even enroll in one of our courses for college credit. We also work hard to get you ready for Jewish life on college campuses.
